Figure painting is the foundation of Classical Realism. The human form is one of the most recognizable elements of creation and one of the most challenging to accurately reproduce. At the Florence Academy of Art, we worked for more than 20 hours a week from the life human model. The goal is to capture the life, movement, weight and solidity of the model in a relatively short amount of time. Doing these studies small (such as this one) make the task even more challenging.
These little paintings are not about detail, but about a unified sense of reality. Enjoy!
